Hardinge Appoints Charles Dougherty as CEO

Hardinge, a provider of metal-cutting solutions and accessories, said early Thursday its board appointed Charles Dougherty as president and CEO, effective immediately. Dougherty succeeds Richard Simons, who will be leaving the company after a 30-year stint, Hardinge said in a statement. Dougherty will also be appointed to the board while Simons will step down from it.

Dougherty, 55, was most recently president and CEO of American Science & Engineering, a public supplier of x-ray inspection systems for security and defense systems, which was acquired by OSI Systems (OSIS) in September 2016.
